As well as assisting needy Freemen, the Sudbury Freemen’s Trust is a charity which serves the town and community of Sudbury. The Trust has continued to provide grants to (exclusively) local charities and worthwhile organisations. These include some of the groups which meet at the Christopher Centre and the Sudbury branch of the Salvation Army.
Set up in 1986, one of the prime objectives of the Sudbury Freemen’s Trust is the preservation and promotion of all aspects of the history of the town of Sudbury. Our most recent project, (of which the Trustees are justifiably proud), is the transcribing, reglazing and photographing of the All Saints Church 1736 Abstract of Charities. The Abstract of Charities was rededicated at the Civic Service held on Sunday April 23rd 2023 at All Saints Church in Sudbury.
